Scientific Breakthrough about MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS – Watch CTV News VIDEO!

“For now, MS Societies in Canada and the U.S. have reacted cautiously to the research,, saying there is “insufficient evidence to suggest this phenomenon is the cause of MS” and discouraging patients from getting tested or seeking treatment.”

But the researchers testing Zamboni’s theory believe they’re on to something that could change the future for MS patients around the world.”

W5 investigates new theory about MS | CTV News

“It’s generally assumed that MS (“which afflicts up to 2.5 million people worldwide”) is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks the central nervous system, leading to weakness, extreme fatigue, chronic pain and visual problems.”

“More common in females..”

“It is well-established that the symptoms of MS are caused by a breakdown of myelin, a fatty substance that coats nerve cells and plays a crucial role in transmitting messages to the central nervous system. When those messages are blurred, nerves malfunction, causing all manner of woes, including blurred eyesight, loss of sensation in the limbs and even paralysis.”

“A vascular problem?”

“What if it were caused by a structural defect in the veins, one that could be diagnosed and treated before patients become disabled?”

“CCSVI, or Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency”
-“Almost all of them have malformed or blocked veins in their neck and chest that take blood away from their brains.”
-“Blood fails to properly drain from the brain and can even flow back upwards into the brain.”

“There, the blood could be depositing iron, a substance that is toxic to the brain’s grey matter. This excess iron could be what sets off a host of immune reactions — and possibly, the symptoms of MS.”

“Liberation Treatment”
-“Open those blocked veins using a balloon inserted in the vein, in much the way surgeons repair coronary arteries in angioplasty”

“Dr. (Paolo) Zamboni (“a professor of medicine at the University of Ferrara in Italy”) then tried the same operation on a group of 65 MS-sufferers, identifying blood drainage blockages in the brain and unblocking them – and more than 73% of the patients are completely free of the symptoms of MS, two years after the operation.”
